It’s been over four years since guests last tasted the Sicilian dishes from longtime Milwaukee restaurant Giovanni’s. But all of that changes with Safina: a new casual Italian concept that comes to the historic building at 785 N. Jefferson St.Focusing on comforting dishes with roots in Sicily and the southern regions of Italy, Safina's goal is to keep the menu familiar and accessible.     We love that Safina's is a family-owned and operated restaurant. The service is impressive. Mariana, the Server, was friendly and helpful. Mr. Giovanni Safina and his son, Sal, were attentive, ensuring our satisfaction. The food is excellently prepared and delicious. The Calamari Fritti was fresh ( too many places serve it rubbery) and perfectly breaded and seasoned. Giovanni's Veal Colleta is a favorite. The Tiramisu is the perfect end to a pleasurable dining experience. This restaurant is a GEM, and we highly recommend dining at Safina's.

    First timers on 11/16/24. Everything about our visit was outstanding. The food (I had the Pork Chop and my wife had the Walleye) was perfect. Even the basic side salad was interesting and delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Being a distillery, the cocktails were fabulous. The room was inviting and social and still "private" enough. Will be going back. Been a long time since we've been so pleased.

    Very nice decor. Wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Made us feel welcome. Meal was well-paced. Lots of choices on the menu and good portions. Will definitely be back.
