BAYTE, is a modern European neighbourhood restaurant with an emphasis on local sourcing and quality produce in the seaside town of St Leonards-on-Sea. The Royal is operated by James Hickson, who has a solid hospitality background having learned his trade at well-loved restaurants and gastropubs including St John, Great Queen Street, The Canton Arms and Moro. James is hands-on at the pub, overseeing the relaxed yet lively atmosphere, friendly service and sophisticated food and drink. We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Feel the comforting rumble of trains passing overhead conjuring memories of some of our favourite haunts underneath the bridges in NYC - a place where, with the blinds rolled down and away from prying eyes, a decadent lunch can swiftly roll into dinner.

Every dish was delicious! We were a group of seven on a Saturday lunchtime. We ordered all the small starters to share, and enjoyed this and every course. We loved it!

A lovely beachfront setting in their recently refurbished restaurant. Relaxing natural vibes in a very well appointed dining area with central glass round open fire to finish your evening off around. Staff are very attentive and a good selection of cocktails and very well presented food on the menu. One of our favourite drive to destinations, especially in good weather to walk along the beach afterwards looking at the amazing beachfront properties on Hebrand Walk next door. Well worth the drive!!
