Gloria Gati is the new restaurant of chef George Papakostas who jokingly refers to Gloria as the older sister of Vittoria Gati, another famous restaurant of his in Glyfada. Gloria is located in a historic building in the Athens center just 50 meters from Syntagma square. It is defined by an eclectic vintage design in a very cosy space where the pizza oven takes center stage. The bar serves award winning cocktails and over 100 wines from Greece and around the globe. The menu is Italian with a focus on homemade pasta and quality meats. The pizza is made from a 1937 sourdough and baked in a traditional oven imported from Naples. Some of the signature dishes include the steak tartare, arancini bolognese, the raviolo cacio pepe, the reginette al tartufo for truffle lovers as well as pollo francese and the ossobuco which is cooked for 12 hours. A tiramisu is a must here accompanied by a single estate espresso. Outside seating is available all year round in the courtyard of St George church

Balthazar serves a Mediterranean cuisine with many Greek fusion influences since Christoforos Peskias has formed a highly creative menu. Fresh salads like green beans with smoked almonds, and a Thai lemon dressing, original dishes such as marinated fresh fish in lemongrass and basil, and the well-known meatballs with french fries and yogurt dip are the reason for a visit. Excellent experience. Fantastic service in a wonderful space with beautiful and fragrant oriental lilies. Sea bass was great but the short rib was even better. The beef carpaccio / tartare was far better than we had in Spain and Portugal. Must return!

Food was good, the experience was joyful, and the view of the Acropolis was breathtaking. Definitely will go back when I make it back over to Greece.

I am a new visitor to Athens and Greece, coming in for a couple of days before a conference and found this wonderful restaurant! The food is incredible and appears at first glance to be simply prepared but then surprises with unique flavors, creating a fresh spin on the palate. Strongly recommend the green bean dish- haven’t had anything like it!”. The restaurant is in a really lovely and tranquil part of Athens- it is definitely not a tourist trap as it appeals to locals as well as visitors. In addition to wonderful cuisine, the entire wait staff was very attentive. Highly recommend!!
