Long before the farm-to-table trend invaded America, Louisa’s espoused this philosophy, and served food to match. The tiny-but-iconic eatery was established in 1980 and has been dishing out incredibly fresh and delicious food in the small historic yellow building ever since. The menu is all regional fare — fish caught from the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay, plus vegetables, fruits, herbs (and beautiful fresh flowers) from West Cape May’s Beach Plum Farm, augmented by produce from other New Jersey farms.The kitchen philosophy is to cook simple, expertly seasoned dishes that are lovingly prepared and made from fresh, first-rate ingredients. The menu changes often but the one constant you’ll find here is the dedication to a great dining experience.

Ocean 7 is nestled within the Inn of Cape May and offers an elegant and classical seaside dining experience for locals and travelers alike.     For starters we enjoyed a mushroom appetizer that was out of this world delicious. Then we thoroughly enjoyed the shaved cabbage salad. We could have easily stopped there but we had already ordered the crispy rainbow trout. I enjoyed the preparation of the fish although I rarely order this type of fish. As always our sweet tooth needed a finale and the pot de creme fulfilled that ending! Heirloom continues to be a shining star in Lewes and a must go to when visiting the lower Delaware region.

    Wonderful setting in a hotel. Food was excellent and our server was friendly and attentive. Remembering our anniversary with complementary champagne was a very nice touch. Would definitely return.

    Delicious food and lots of it despite the cost. Some of the best drinks we’ve had in Cape May. It is part of a beautiful hotel. Our server, Vicki, was terrific. Very attentive. Would recommend.
