Scalini Fedeli was opened by chef-owner Michael Cetrulo in 1995 and very quickly became New Jersey's highest rated Italian restaurant. Rated excellent by the New York Times in 1996 and New Jersey's favorite restaurant in Zagat's Survey in 2001 and New Jersey Monthly's best Italian and top 25 overall in 2007. Highlights from the menu include soft egg yolk raviolo with black truffle butter, pignoli crusted salmon with artichoke and mint agnolotti in a light tomato and basil broth and braised short ribs of beef with a cherry pepper and port glaze. We always choose Capital Grille when we celebrate a special occasion. Last night was exceptional. The table was decorated for our anniversary and our friend’s birthday. The server was very attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding and the complimentary desserts were beyond delicious! We are looking forward to many more celebrations at Capital Grille! The food is always great at Chef Freddy's. For the day after Christmas, we were a party of seven, tasting venison (perfect medium rare), Chilean sea bass, ravioli, salmon, and calamari. Two things stood out: the calamari is supplemented with spicy peppers, giving it a unique taste and the care taken for the seventh member of our party--our 3-year-old granddaughter. She was affectionately welcomed and, when the fancier food lost some of its appeal to her, out came a bowl of vanilla ice cream. She was one happy toddler, singing to anyone who would listen. Thank you, Chef Fredy's!
