Welcome to the Steam Plant Restaurant and Brew Pub! This historical building actually functioned as a steam plant between 1916 and 1986, when the last boiler was shut down in December of that year.Then years later, the old plant was transformed from a dirty, drab industrial behemoth into a cathedral-bright architectural showcase becoming a functional commercial space while maintaining as much history and equipment as possible within the rigid guidelines of historic renovation. Fortunately, the iconic twin stacks continue to lend a uniqueness to the Spokane skyline. Since reopening in November 2021, the Steam Plant has partnered with Grain Shed Brewing whose beers are made with regionally sourced ingredients. The bar and dinner menus have been updated to showcase local favorites. Prices range from $11 - 16 for shareable appetizers, soups & salads, handhelds, and pizza; entries range from $18 - 38; and desserts range from $9 - 19 for the Steam Plant Shareable that feeds 4-6 people.

Our ambiance is old world, with a classic design that harkens back to Spokane.The Gilded Unicorn reflects our eclectic mix of old and new. We take inspiration from classic American cuisine from the 1950s and '60s and recreate them as new sensations that punch you right in the feels.Every meal is made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Instead of ground beef, mushroom soup, frozen tater tots, and cheddar cheese, we use braised short ribs, homemade mushroom cream sauce, Idaho tater tots, and four-year aged cheddar on top of that in our legendary tater tot casserole. So it's basically the same ingredients, but better quality and crafted by award-winning chefs, or as we like to call it, magical!
I didn't know what to expect when I booked my reservation. It far exceeded any expectations I could have dreamt of. From the service, the cuisine, the beverages and overall vibe to the atmosphere and historic surroundings, it was a total experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion! I will be sure to visit regularly now that I have discovered this gem!
We go to Wild Sage once or twice a year for special occasions. I am lactose intolerant and they will adjust what is ordered to fit food sensitivities and still give you a gourmet meal. They always have a vegan dark chocolate macaroon ice cream that is my favorite and I always order it. Plus they have a couple vegetarian or vegan options. I had the black bean tempeh which was delicious. It’s speedy but worth it for something special.
Exceptional in every way. We were celebrating a few special occasions for our family of six adults, and everyone had an amazing time. The menu was so enticing and unique that we had difficulty choosing our dishes. The atmosphere was delightful; we never felt rushed, and the noise level was perfect—lively and special, yet still conducive to conversation. The owner is an absolute treasure, and we all left feeling happy and satisfied. Thank you for crafting such a memorable experience!
