Designated historical, 740 is one of Colorado's two oldest remaining saloons; transformed back to its 1904 roots; a traditional American dining saloon with a turn of the century ambiance featuring a magnificent room dominating bar, built in 1880 by the Brunswick Company,. The copper spit trough, once equipped with running water, still exists at the front of the bar. Louisville, notorious for its drinking, gambling, and illegal activities, evidence of the occasional misunderstanding is the .22 caliber bullet hole in the front bar. Food here is delicious, presentation is attractive, decor is cozy, service is friendly and efficient. The menu seemed a bit underwhelming to me at first with relatively few choices that I thought I would like, but everything I tasted was fantastic, so I got some culinary and gustatory education.

Our group of 6 dined on the patio on Christmas Eve. It was a very busy evening. Service was great and we appreciated the lower noise level outside. We would visit again. Thanks for an enjoyable experience.
