Shinsei Restaurant - Traditional Sushi / Contemporary Asian KitchenWhen we came up with the concept of Shinsei we wanted a place that reflected our lifestyles: sometimes we went out to dinner with our kids and sometimes with our friends and husbands. We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal. But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish. Open for over 20 years, Oishii Owner & Executive Chef Thanh Nguyen serves some of the most creative comfort sashimi, sushi, and specialty rolls (including many rice-less and gluten-free options) in Dallas.     Treated my wife to a day date. From the moment we walked in, the hostess at the host stand was welcoming and our server Jordan was outstanding with his recommendations. I had the Chicken Parm with the vodka sauce and my wife had the blackened pork chops. We both were surprised at the large portions. The ambience was very inviting. Our only negative review would be the dessert. We wanted the chocolate cake fondue to be warmer and we thought it was too rich. We couldn’t finish it. It was delicious but way too rich for us. Overall, great value, tasty menu and great service. We can’t wait to go back.

    Great service! Only thing is I requested a seat upstairs by the window but was seated downstairs in the patio area. When I made the reservation online via OpenTable the only two options for reservations were the bar and patio and I chose patio, but I added the note for my seating preference in the additional comments sections. Day of I called to confirm my seating request and was told I couldn’t get that seating because I chose patio online.
