Izakaya Den is Denver’s popular Japanese gastropub, modeled after the lively after hours establishments found throughout Japan. The restaurant is located on South Pearl Street and is the second restaurant of the Kizaki brothers, founders and owners of Sushi Den. The menu is arranged in a tapas style, serving traditional Japanese small plates along with dishes infused with international flavors and textures. The more traditional Japanese offerings include sashimi and nigiri, sourced from daily fish shipments from around the globe, along with dumplings and noodle dishes. The global cuisine experiments with a bevy of different flavors including unique items such as Grilled Panzanella Salad (jumbo lump crab, toasted focaccia, local goat cheese, pistachios, plum wine vinaigrette), Kobe Beef Sliders (seared foie gras, pomme frittes). A gluten-free menu is also available along with a popular weekday happy hour from 5 to 6:30 pm.

    Noth never disappoints! On this occasion, the restaurant was extremely busy and getting started with service took 15 minutes or so, which is unusual. Maybe they were short waitstaff? Once our service was engaged everything rolled along very smoothly and our server Jordyn W was excellent! Our meals were cooked to perfection and delicious.

    The space is well appointed, pleasing to the eye and comfortable seating. The food was exquisitely and appropriately seasoned, each other flavors maintaining their own integrity.     We are traveling from out of state and celebrated our 7 year anniversary on January 7th. Our server Marco was very efficient and made our experience a great one!! We were given warm bread with olive oil to start and once they found out we were there for our anniversary they gave us a free glass of champagne to start the evening off!! We had fresh salads as appetizers. I had the It was Aged Porterhouse Agnolotti pasta with a brown butter sauce and I think I cried at the first bite, it was so good. My husband had the NY strip with brussel sprouts, both cooked perfectly. Ended the evening with bowl of gelato, which was of course delicious and also complimentary for our anniversary. My one and only complaint was it was extremely loud in the dining area so we had to talk louder to hear each other, but very romantic atmosphere and everyone around us was laughing and having a great time!! 10/10 would recommend and go back!
