The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. It had been 30+ years since our last visit to a fondue restaurant. The Melting Pot was very good. Food was delicious. Waiter was knowledgeable. Drinks were WAY too expensive though.

Came on a Thursday for lunch, much to our surprise it was happy hour all day! Tried a few appetizers from the HH menu, ahi tuna tacos and tuna tartare and both were fabulous. Note the tartare was on the smaller portion so if looking for a light snack this is perfect but if you are hungry you might need to add or get something else. I'd go back for those alone. Parking could be a bit challenging but we were there early enough that it was fine. Server was great too.
