Café Berlin has been serving authentic German cuisine on Capitol Hill since 1985. It occupies the ground floor of three townhouses whose front yards serve as Biergarten for outdoor dining. The interior features a small bar and two cozy dining rooms. The restaurant is located within a short walking distance of Union Station and the U.S. Capitol. It draws politicians, congressional staffer, and tourists as well a loyal following of neighborhood residents. The traditional dishes are authentically prepared with lighter touch by chefs with extensive experience in German cuisine. We live in Los Angeles, CA and it's our first time in DC. We had Thanksgiving Day dinner at The Hamilton and it was perfect. Our waitress, Ash, was patient and attentive. Food serving portions were generous and tasty. The ambience and decor is modern yet classic, simply wonderful.

Enjoyed our first visit and we’d like to go again someday. We concentrated on sausages this time and want to do schnitzel the next time. The sausages with red cabbage and “German mac and cheese” worked for us, though in hindsight might have substituted potatoes, and could have used a lot more mustard from the get go instead of needing to ask for it. Definitely would order more potato pancakes. House beer was excellent accompaniment.

Food was FANTASTIC. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Foie Gras Appetizer and Steamed Burger. Amazing flavor profiles. Definitely will eat there again.
