Between the central locale afforded by its gracious home in the landmark Lord Elgin Hotel, a warm and yet contemporary ambience, a locally sourced menu and a casual-to-sophisticated stocked cellar, Forty-One has become one of Ottawa’s top new restaurants.Named Forty-One in recognition of the year, 1941, that the Lord Elgin was built, the restaurant features a modern environment and classic menu that is a perfect match for connecting with new and familiar faces. Guests are able to relax in the inviting lounge with flat screen TVs and large windows overlooking Elgin Street or enjoy an intimate dinner or a group get together in the dining area. With a capacity of close to 150, the restaurant features booths and banquette seating to allow flexibility to accommodate guest needs whether they are popping in for lunch, a quick after-work cool-down, a pre-theatre warm-up or an evening night cap. Forty-One also includes a private dining room for up to 30 guests.

    ember was absolutely incredible - the perfect date spot for our anniversary. the service, decor, and food were all amazing (prices are reasonable as well). definitely try the crispy tuna and wood fired halloumi. will be back again for sure.

    This place is truly a hidden gem! The ambiance is intimate and stylish, making it a perfect spot for cocktails and small plates. We tried a few delicious cocktails, each expertly crafted, along with some tasty entrées that did not disappoint. However, the restaurant started emptying out before 9:30 PM, giving the impression that they were closing, which cut our evening short. It would have been nice to linger a bit longer. Overall, a great experience for a night out—just be mindful of the timing!

    We enjoyed the live saxophone music. The restaurant had a good ambience and was esthetically nice. Our food didn't take long to come. We ordered the Hummus and naan bread. The food especially the naan bread was too salty,so I couldn't finish it.. I would go back,but I would order something different.
