After working for almost 50 years, my husband is retiring the first of the year and we had a little celebratory dinner at Gaidos’s our favorite restaurant. We live in Houston. It was fantastic as always.

Nice decorations and entertainment was good just WAY to loud-dinner conversation was difficult in the far corner away from performer. Asked to have him tone it down-he did for the rest of the one set but then loud on next set.

Mahayla was a very good knowledgeable and attentive waitress. My husband and I really enjoyed celebrating our anniversary there.

For our anniversary this year, I wanted to do something special for my wife. Traditionally, we love to celebrate with a nice dinner at our favorite restaurant, but as luck would have it, most of the places we frequent were closed on Mondays. After some searching, I stumbled upon a cozy spot called 1817. It wasn't familiar to us, but with a few glowing reviews and enticing photos, we decided to give it a try. As we walked through the door, I was immediately taken by the warm, inviting atmosphere. Soft lighting, tastefully decorated walls, and the gentle hum of conversation created an intimate setting. My wife smiled, clearly intrigued, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me that I had chosen the right place. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who led us to a beautifully set table near a window. The menu boasted a variety of dishes, each sounding more delicious than the last. After a bit of deliberation, we ordered a mix of appetizers and entrees, eager to experience everything this hidden gem had to offer. When the food arrived, it was nothing short of spectacular. Each plate was a work of art, bursting with flavors that danced on our tongues. My wife raved about the lamb chops she had ordered, and I couldn’t get enough of the rich, savory stuffed flounder. We shared bites, savoring not just the food but the moment itself—celebrating our love and the joy of sharing a great meal together. The service was impeccable, our server attentive without being intrusive. They had the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, making us feel truly cared for throughout the evening. It felt like a celebration not just of our anniversary but of the simple pleasures in life. As the night wrapped up, we couldn’t resist dessert. I opted for the maple pecan bread pudding, warm and decadent, topped with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. While mango crème brulee both were amazing what a finale to a lovely evening.

Brunch was wonderful. Most of had the Eggs Benedict which was seasoned well. Espresso martini was unique with a coffee run and iris cream. The atmosphere was upscale but comfortable.
