Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse has been a Chicago icon since partners Hugo Ralli and Steve Lombardo opened its doors in May 1989. The classic American steakhouse serves Gibsons Prime Angus Beef and Gibsons Grassfed Australian Beef. Our sever was amazing. We went to lunch before the ballet and the celebrate and engagement. Our server was attentive and the food was amazing as always.

I had a delicious pork chop. My husband had a filet and very good. Out salads were crisp and plate was cold so made it even more crispy.. The fries were tasty and hot. I did ask for very hot mashed potatoes but they weren’t. I had free tea and the water was very hot. Server was excellent. He came to the table several times to make sure everything was was ok or if we needed anything. My only disappointment is the mashed potatoes can never be really hot. I didn’t send it back cause I ate anyway. I even bought the knives to bring home!!

Lobster tail a bit overcooked, the asparagus and twice baked potato were excellent as well as the filet mignon. That said, our table was in a less than desirable location and the water glasses needed to be changed out as they were both dirty when seated. The lights were not lowered until 7 pm which probably can be adjusted now because of day light savings time. Also, I will never understand why a restaurant of this price point wouldn’t also send out a butter knife with the bread. Lastly, I wish the desserts were a bit smaller as I am not willing to pay almost $25 for a dessert I know I have no chance of finishing unless I was at a larger table so I know we would be able to split in a minimum of 4 portions.
