The Halfway Inn is a beautiful 16th century pub, located on the heathland halfway between Wareham and Corfe Castle.

Dogs Welcome! Families Welcome!

You may choose to dine in our cosy pub, in our garden room or in our large beer garden with a children’s play area.

    At the Halfway Inn, we pride ourselves on offering delicious dishes and a comfortable atmosphere. Our cosy dining areas complete with log burning fires, flagstone floors and wattle and daub walls, make for the perfect place to enjoy a spot to eat. During the summer months, our beautifully bright airy garden room and extensive outside seating areas are perfectly positioned for guests to dine al ’fresco. We’ve got everyone’s taste buds covered, from traditional pub classics like our Beer Battered Fish and Chips to our speciality dishes like our Vegan Five Bean and Lentil Chilli.

    Pub itself was nice, but a bit chilly. Lovely staff and the service was ok. Food was not great, all frozen food and not great quality!

    Fantastic, staff, food and atmosphere. The only thing that could be improved was wheel chair access to the toilets, but we managed.

    Perfect pub for a lovely dining experience- beautiful interior with 2 real fires - staff were fabulous , food was clearly freshly prepared and so tasty - we will definitely go back - we took our border collie and he was made very welcome / overall a perfect lunch out , thank you :)

    Visited today for a birthday meal, had Sunday lunch and a burger. Absolutely fantastic food. I ordered extra gravy and cheesy leeks based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. Fresh food so a little bit of a wait but definitely worth it, the staff are very attentive, it was very busy which is always a good sign. Bill came to £67 for 3 of us with 3 soft drinks, with prime cuts and tasty food it was well worth the journey. There was no check back to ensure food was ok, which I found great, as a mystery shopper I find it very annoying to be asked partway through a mouthful, personally if you know your food is good you shouldn't need a check back. Five star ⭐ from us! Thank you for a lovely meal.

    Visited the Halfway Inn with family (6 of us). The service from staff was excellent and friendly. We opted for the Sunday Roasts (beef and chicken on offer when we visited). The food was delicious and the portion sizes were good. The ambience was great with the old village pub feel, especially with log fires burning. Will definitely re-visit when back in Dorset.

    Unfortunately, we did not stay to eat as planned because the pub was uncomfortably cold. Even the staff were wearing thick fleeces and gilets. We appreciated that there was a private function which a member of staff told us meant leaving an outside door open so meals could be taken through but 40 minutes later we had finished our drinks, no one had returned to take our food order, and we were so cold we decided to leave. We were sorry that our experience was so different than the description we’d read.

    We both had the Sunday roast Lamb. Really excellent and service was good too. Thoroughly recommended.
