Come and experience the renowned Hawaiian hospitality and aloha spirit of Maui at Hali’imaile General Store. With a hundred-year history and over three decades of providing delicious meals to both Upcountry Maui locals and visitors, our restaurant in Hali’imaile is a must-see for anyone visiting Maui. Join us for a taste of the island’s finest cuisine and an opportunity to uncover a piece of Maui’s rich history at our conveniently located restaurant near the town of Makawao and on the road to and from Haleakalā National Park.

Farm-to-table is not a new concept to us! Our restaurant has been promoting and featuring locally sourced produce, seafood, meats and products since 1988. Our dishes are a unique blend of fresh Hawaiian food, local Asian influences and modern preparations.

Since I grew up next door (White House) and the General store was where we got our mail and whatever, we come every time we come to Maui(home). The food never disappoints and the chef is phenomenal, I don’t think he gets enough credit because he makes it happen. The memories are priceless but the prices are over the top. We’re on vacay and you can’t put a price on memories! I told Jennifer, the manager about the history about Haliimaile General store and she was appreciative of the background since i lived next door. Experience the mouth savoring flavors and ambience of old Haliimaile.

The appetizers were magnificent — excellent ceviche; the pita with creamy herbed ricotta was special, and the mushroom bao buns were delectable. The fish and chips (I substituted rice) entree was tasty and filling.

The food and the service lived up to expectations!!The Mahi mahi and sea bass were terrific and so were the crab cakes! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a elegant and delicious meal!!

Onion soup and Mac crusted Mahi was good as was the basque chocolate cheese cake. Shrimp with pasta (dry) came with a totally different pasta than was listed on the menu, so disappointing as that menu pasta was why it was ordered. The service was great, and the cocktails were outstanding, will I return, probably not.

Glad to see the resurgence and attention to detail under new leadership. Only gripes: crab pizza wasn't crabby and their food deserves better than crappy frozen French fries. Otherwise, the meal was delightful.
