   What a great dining experience!! Herb has a wonderful take on modern Thai cuisine with 3 multi-course tasting menus to choose from. Beautiful, vibrant and balanced flavors in a space with a casual, contemporary vibe. Highly recommended.

   WOW! Outstanding, delicate, intricate taste. Every bite an experience with a taste of someone who puts so much love into food and wants you to love it as much as they do, that someone is Chef Patty! Meeting her at the end of the night was icing on the cake as she just came to check on our satisfaction. And then the service, we ended up hugging our server Jenny who beamed with pride as she served each dish and kept checking like a caring aunt to ensure we are eating well. Loved it all and will be back!

   Food was great. Unfortunately, service was not. It took 25 minutes just to get our beers and the time between courses was ridiculously long (and it's not a luxurious setting like some tasting menus, which makes you want to linger). After an hour and 25 minutes we got our main course and at that point asked for dessert to go. I've been a waitress and even if you're completely swamped, if people see that you're doing your best to be attentive and have a "service" mentality, you can receive a lot of grace. This waitress somehow seemed to glide through the restaurant without ever looking at her tables to see if they might want anything. I know there were other tables that were also trying to get her attention. Additionally it was a set menu so delivering food and taking drink orders were her primary responsibilities. The other issue was just time between courses. Our soup was delicious but one was cold. And there were really only 5 total courses, two appetizers, a soup, a main and a dessert. Just took way too long. The chef is very talented but I won't be back unless i start to hear rave reviews on service

   Premise: the food we had at Herb was very good. However, something went terribly wrong with the service and it was a mess. Every table seemed to be experiencing delays, inconsistencies, and forgetfulness by the wait staff. It was Valentine’s Day evening so likely a very busy night and maybe not representative of the standard service at the restaurant, but still a mess. At least it was an excuse for a bonding experience over the weirdness of the dinner with other tables.

   We decided to travel north from the south side on a Friday evening not sure what to expect. We were not disappointed. Small intimate and comfortable setting; fantastic service; food was excellent. Really made our Friday night special. Many thanks to the owner, chef and staff for providing such a wonderful “getaway” experience on a chilly Friday night in Chicago. Will go back again!

   Wow. Herb is a true gem in Chicago’s restaurant scene. I’ve been in the city for ten years and love exploring its many amazing culinary offerings. But there are a few really special experiences that stay with me—our dinner at Herb is now one of them. Chef Patty is doing magical things with simple, fresh ingredients. She personally greeted us at our table and guided us through our entire dinner. We went with the full seven course option and it was an incredible journey. Rooted in the delicious flavors of Thai cuisine that make it so popular, every course did something to elevate the experience and add a surprising twist. The plates were visually stunning with balanced flavors. The service was warm and attentive, but never overbearing. It is clear that Chef Patty is passionate about this restaurant, and that comes through in the dishes and the attention to every detail. My favorite dish was the Betal Leaves starter. It was so fresh and unique with a blend of subtle flavors that made us both grin as soon as we put the first one in our mouth. We knew from that first bite we were in for a fun evening. I’ve been to Oriole, Alinea, El Ideas, and many other Chicago culinary heavyweights. Our dinner at Herb was on that level. This place is a must-visit.

   Everything went perfectly except our table was near a door and and a cold breeze was blowing in during our entire dinner. Great dinner and service.

    My husband and I were really looking forward to eating at Herb because of great reviews. As an Asian American, I will admit that the food was very good and well-presented. But there was one server for the entire restaurant, and the busperson had to take our order. Herb was out of lemongrass ginger tea (why not pre-state this when asking what drinks you would like?), pork dish (common to all three non-vegetarian tasting menus), and mango and sticky rice. The lack of pork was an acute problem, as most tables had at least one pork order. So the chef had to go from table to table asking if each diner approved a substitution of beef to the dish. There was so much waiting between courses (two small starters, soup, one entree, dessert) that the meal took 2 hours and 10 minutes.
