Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House opened its doors in February 1997 in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, next to sister restaurant Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Over 20 years after owners Hugo Ralli and Steve Lombardo set out to open the city's finest seafood restaurant, Hugo's continues to be the destination for premier east and west coast oysters, crudos, frog legs, lobster and seasonal fish and shellfish, in addition to Gibsons Prime Angus and Gibsons Grassfed Australian steaks. An extensive wine list, classic cocktail list and selection of impressive signature desserts accompany the menu of fresh seafood, steaks and chops. Everything was wonderful. Service, food, atmosphere. Manager greeted us at the door, our server was fabulous. We were celebrating a birthday and they took care of us wonderfully. We never waited and everything tasted delicious. Will definitely be back

I chose to eat at Hugo’s for Valentine’s Day because it’s my favorite restaurant in Naperville. Our experience this time around was not at all reminiscent of previous visits. 1) We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation (that had been booked 3 weeks in advance), yet were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation time. 2) Our server was aloof and his service mediocre. While other tables were routinely having their water refilled, served bread, etc. we had to request these things. 3) The food itself was very good, as always. We will almost certainly choose another restaurant the next time we have a special celebration.

Had a 6:30 reservation and was finally seated at nearly 7PM, and then was seated right next to the kitchen doors which was like dining in the middle of a busy intersection and also very noisy. The food was good, the service average and the wait times for the meal and dessert was long. Not a very memorable experience for a $190.00 meal for 2.

We we were sat outside and it was a bit cold. I did not know that we were going to be outside with a reservation.

Relative to our past outstanding experiences at Hugo's, this experience was somewhat disappointing. It was still good. But the service was not up to the usual high end. Our waiter was a bit forgetful and seemed rushed.

Fiancé said his pork chop was unbelievable, but I got the fish and chips and have had any of that taste any worse. Since it was Valentine’s Day and the place was very busy I just went ahead and ate the french fries which were so so. My fiancé and I met there six years ago, so it was Valentine for an anniversary kind of dinner we go back each year. It might not stop us from going back, but I’d be very leery of ordering the fish and chips again.
