Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar is a local favourite and Canada's Premium Steakhouse since 1955, located at the famous corner of Portage and Main. In the warmer months, a spectacular new patio is perfect for al fresco dining. Hy's has one of the city's best Happy Hours daily from 3 PM -6 PM with live music in the lounge.

Valet parking - Hy's guests can valet park at the Fairmont for a special rate of $16+ tax daily after 3pm.
Self Park at the Richardson Parkade and bring your ticket for validation.

A very excellent experience as always. Our party didn’t realize it, but they actually stayed an extra 30 minutes past closing to accommodate our chatting.

The service & ambience was wonderful. My husband's filet was tender and cooked beautifully. My striploin was so tough I could barely cut through it. It literally was the worst steak I have ever had and not at a minimal cost. This was a birthday celebration with guests, so I did not complain or make an issue at the time however for a high end "steak house" restaurant that has no problem charging $60+ for a steak, I think they could have done ALOT better.

Food was average which was disappointing considering the price. My beef Wellington was rare in the middle and the bottom of the pastry was soggy (inedible).

The food was over priced and did not taste that great. Got the crab cakes for an appetizer for myself and my boyfriend. For $28.50 you would think that it would come with at the very least 2 but only came with 1. My boyfriend liked the lamb he got and the sauce that came with it he liked as well. I got the chicken. It was tender but the flavour wasn’t something I liked. We left hungry and disappointed. The staff were amazing but we will not be back.

We both had the escargot which tasted like nothing. The Cobb salad was good, but they covered up old lettuce with the salad dressing unfortunately. We both had sirloin steak which was very gristly. We use the valet parking at the Fairmont, which requires you to walk underground to the restaurant, and the staff has to sign your parking ticket to have it validated. The staff signed the wrong side of the ticket which meant we had to go back to the restaurant and have it signed properly before we could go home, which took us an extra half hour of walking . This restaurant used to be so good and we were so disappointed this time.

Food was good, portion of food was good. Drinks were stupidly priced. Was actually nothing special for the price paid not as romantic as we thought and our waiter was sick.. sounded sick, coughing and doused in menthol. No desire to return

The perfect place for all kinds of date! Food, customer service & overall experience was a solid 5!! The staffs are so welcoming & help with good recommendations for the meal. Really enjoyed the steak and potatoes. I’ll be back!

Great service and good food! For those on a budget you may find equivalent food for less at a select few restaurants in the city, but it is very good quality.

This is the Best Steak House in Winnipeg! Having been to dozens of Steak Houses for decades, I love that Hy’s offers many Steak current and traditional options with accompaniments. I appreciate that the Servers and Staff are professional and exceptional. The ambience and atmosphere are excellent. I think this is the perfect Dining experience to please and reward yourself and impress your companion(s). It is definitely a favourite Restaurant for any and all special occasions! I highly recommend it! You’ll love it, guaranteed!
