Hy’s Winnipeg is a local favorite since 1958, located at the famous corner of Portage and Main. Hy’s offers 2 levels of dining for lunch and dinner in an upscale, classic yet contemporary atmosphere. In the warmer months, a spectacular new patio is perfect for al fresco dining. Whether you join us in the lively cocktail lounge or a quiet corner of the restaurant, Hy’s signature Canada Prime beef and hand crafted cocktails combined with professional and unpretentious service is sure to make your experience memorable. Join us for Happy Hour from 3 PM -6 PM

Valet parking - Hy's guests can valet park at the Fairmont for a special rate of $16+ tax daily after 3pm.

Always a great experience, food is done impeccable well and the attention to the little things that make it an incredible experience can not be overstated If you go ask for Marvin, he is awesome , friendly and professional and knowledgeable, what more could you ask for?

Had a great meal! The service starting and ending with the secure coat check was outstanding. Our party of four all enjoyed the food. The timing of the courses was spot on. Everything was perfect!

The food was top notch. The staff were all friendly and professional and provided excellent service as usual. Always a great spot to stop in for a cocktail, or for an excellent dining experience. It was our second year dining there on NYE, and now it is a tradition!

We popped by for a quick happy hour to celebrate our anniversary with our 22 and 16 year old: terrific ambience and excellent early evening especially Alyssa and Andrew! Happy New Year!!

Celebrated our anniversary for the third year in a row now at Hy’s and as always, it was a great experience. This has become and will continue to be a staple for us for years to come.

Didn't meet the standard. Service was mediocre. Entrees were good, but The cheese platter was awful.

Food was excellent as usual, the resturant is elegant however not a place to celebrate anything special. We were celebrating our 30th wedding Anniversary and we picked this establishment to do it at. The service was spotted, (we could not get pepper on our table side Caesar, which was made behind my husband,? After which the waiter told us he assumed because we’ve eaten there before we would not mind. I later asked for salt&pepper for our meal he brought two pepper shakers, I had to borrow from the table next to me, only to have him make a slanted comment later about all the shakers.) And then our celebration was not even acknowledged with a simple “happy anniversary” written in chocolate on the desert plates ??? Desserts “we” ordered. And yes, They knew it was our 30th the host mentioned it at the door, and when opening our bottle of wine the waiter questioned why we would have gotten married on Xmas Eve. Hy’s may not show their customers any recognition for choosing them to celebrate a milestone and the waiter may not feel we deserved appropriate service for what ever reason, I’m not sure, but we have class and still left a 20% tip, because he certainly did not deserve more than that. The food at Hy’s is $$$$ and amazing, but sadly it’s not enough to support the front of the house in today’s competitive market.

The service is overall excellent!’ If you want to experience a really enjoyable evening then this is the place. Just be prepared to spend some money as it is not cheap!

Overall, great atmosphere. Some strange nuances to the service. Made the reso for my wife’s birthday, when we walk in they put us at the door to the kitchen and we ask to be seated elsewhere. Maybe they’re booked up? The restaurant had plenty of room, so it turned out to be a very strange choice for seating instead of the room with the Christmas tree which was lovely. Piece of plastic in the salad, butcher paper on the cooked steak. They comp’ed the steak which was appreciated. We didn’t bother mentioning the plastic in the salad. Good people working there, just some quality assurance that needs to happen to justify the price tag. Duct tape on the door knob on the way out, naked bolts in the bathroom. Is this what we call fine dining? I understand the industries under pressure … the details matter and the last thing as you’re leaving the restaurant should not be the duct tape glue on your hand as you open the door for your wife to leave. I have many fine memories and many fine meals at Hy’s — this was a first for me to leave a review like this when typically they’ve been close to flawless.
