Il Porcellino, located in the heart of River North in downtown Chicago, is a neighborhood restaurant offering classic Italian-American comfort food in a casual setting. Our seasonal menu focuses on housemate pastas, vegetable antipasti and daily specials, all crafted with ingredients sourced from quality artisans, purveyors, and local farmers. The fun and approachable wine program encourages sharing with selections primarily from Italy.

As a way to offset rising costs associated with the restaurant (food, beverage, labor, benefits, supplies), we have added a 3% surcharge to all checks. We do this in lieu of increased menu prices. You may request to have this taken off your check, should you choose.

We had a reservation for 4pm following the Nutcracker matinee, so we arrived right after they opened. It was a nice 20 minute walk. The dining room was really cozy and had some fun holiday touches. We enjoyed our meal - classic Italian fare. I think the appetizers, including the Brussels sprouts and baked caprese with garlic bread were my favorites. The service was excellent. By the time left around 6 it was definitely noisier, but not overwhelming. Our three teens asked to go back again. That's a win!

A real fun and festive environment. Staff and service was right on point and I couldn’t be more pleased. My wife was celebrating her 70th birthday and staff allowed her best friend to secretly serve her birthday dessert. This was certainly the first of what I hope will be many return visits.

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation at 5 pm and were told all parties must be present. Sure, no problem. Around 5:05 pm, our whole party (three people in total) was present. We did not sit down to eat until 5:45 pm. It seems the restaurant didn’t want to ask our table to leave despite being closed out so they made us wait. It was uncomfortable considering how many people were waiting in their small lobby. It was warm and we were not offered water as we watched people with 5:30 reservations get seated. We finally put our foot down and said 40 min was too long to wait for a reservation and they sat us at “not our table.” I’m not sure why you would allow a table to hang out that long during clearly a busy time, but that’s a policy that needs to be revisited before I head back in to eat here. Waiting 40 minutes for your reservation in insane. The food saved this from being a much lower starred review. The restaurant did comp two appetizers for our wait. EVERYTHING was fantastic. Meatballs, cheesy bread, Brussels sprouts, lasagna, chocolate cake….Not a single thing was like oh that’s pretty good. Everything had us like HOW IS THIS SO GOOD?!? 10/10 for the food. 5/10 for the experience as a whole. There are so many delightful Italian places in this city, I’ll head to another for now until they can actually seat their reservations in a reasonable time frame.

This was out first time and we were NOT disappointed! The atmosphere was great, drinks were awesome and the food was amazing! We all had 4 different meals that we were very happy with.

We had the most wonderful!!!!! male waiter!!!!!!! He was so polite, charming and couldn't do enough for us!!! What an asset to your restaurant!!!! We shall hunt him down each time we come back, often! BTW, the food was excellent, as well🤣

The food was above average and the service was good. It is a very cozy spot with nice interior decor. Would recommend for an intimate date night or a small family gathering.

This is one of our must go to places in Chicago. We have never been disappointed with our food or service. Last night’s experience was especially great because our server, Dan, was top notch so make sure you request him if you want service as if you are the owner.

I have never complained about a LEY experience but last night our waiter was not very good, our food took forever and he said it was because we ordered a salad!! That’s why it took so long, plus he ghosted us! When we finally got him to come to our table that’s the excuse he gave. We’ve been going to LEY since RJ Grunts opened and I have to admit this is the first time I’ve complained! We even have our office Christmas Parties at LEY and it’s always been fantastic. So too bad about this, we were very disappointed.
