J. Gilbert's is an "upscale casual" steakhouse serving prime-aged beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill. Guests enjoy various cuts of steak, fresh seafood (including award-winning crab cakes) & other house made favorites like the Maytag Blue potato chips & chocolate velvet cake. The cozy atmosphere includes fire side dining, rich wood, brick & soft lighting where you can enjoy dinner for two or host a large party. The extensive martini & wine list offers the perfect compliment to an excellent meal delivered with attentive service. Reservations are highly recommended.

    Everything was absolutely excellent. And had an exsquisit bottle of wine on discounted wine Mondays which I was not aware of. I would recommend this for a very very nice dinner out for anyone.

    Honestly, I was disappointed. I was bragging to my Wife, Daughter in Law, and Grandson how J'Gilbert's has the best steaks on the east coast, and I think I embarrassed myself. They have never been here, and I was excited to give them a treat. I ordered my Cowboy Cut Ribeye cooked Medium and it came extremely charred on the outside. I know that's part of the wood fired process, but I've never had my steak that charred here before. I almost wanted to scrape the charcoal off the outside, but I didn't want to embarrass myself further. Plus, I got Truffle butter, and I didn't want to waste it. My wife got the Filet Mignon cooked Medium Well, and it was fully red throughout. She ate from the edges, and the rest came home in a box to be further cooked. Her Daughter got the same thing, cooked well done and it was Medium at best. She barely touched it. My Wife's family is Brazilian, and they don't appreciate red beef like Americans. My Crab Bisque soup was FANTASTIC! Reminded me of the Inner Harbor in Baltimore! The sides were all excellent! Our server, Alec was SUPERB! Just as you would expect in a fancy restaurant. I'm sure I'll return, but I'll probably give it a break for a bit.

    This was my first time dining here, and I can see why you need to make reservations days in advance. What impressed me the most was the service. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Also, the culture of the service harkens back to fine dining experiences of the past. It just feels like a special treat or indulgence that justifies the prices. Right down to the glassware, and change of utensils with each course. The decor of the restaurant adds to that feeling. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. I also loved that you can make healthy choices with the main entrees, sides, and dessert, especially! How nice it was to have something simple like fresh berries with creme fraiche to choose over heavier desserts. And I appreciate that the berries were the star of the plate, and the creme fraiche was just an accent. Although, the decaf cappuccino I ordered could have been a dessert in and of itself...it was that good. Our cocktails were also perfectly crafted and offered some unique options.

    Reliably a great experience, from food to drinks. Had the filet, salad and carrot cake. Taste was wonderful and the steak was cooked to perfection.
