J. Gilbert's is an "upscale casual" steakhouse serving prime-aged beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill. Guests enjoy various cuts of steak, fresh seafood (including award-winning crab cakes) & other house made favorites like the Blue Cheese potato chips & Chocolate Velvet Cake. The cozy atmosphere includes, rich wood, brick & soft lighting where you can enjoy an intimate table or host a private party. The extensive martini & wine list offers the perfect compliment to an excellent meal delivered with attentive service. J. Gilbert's is open for dinner 7 days a week and can be booked for private luncheons. Reservations are highly recommended.

    Have eaten here for years and this is the first time I haven't rated our experience with all 5 stars. The wedge salad was the core of the lettuce head, with no green leaves. My pork chop was overcooked and difficult to cut. The waiter forgot to bring water and left before taking a drink order from one of our party. Very disappointing visit!

    It was freezing cold in the restaurant. A disappointment for a big year end meeting with our team. I usually am a big fan of this venue.

    My favorite place. Love our server Mai she;s excellent Only complaint was my soup to go spi;;ed out of the top of container.

    One of my best dining experiences ever. We had a large (8) family holiday gathering: every dish was composed of high quality ingredients perfectly prepared, and each was served with faultless timing. Definitely at the top of my list for special occasion dining in KC!

    We had not been to J. Gilbert's for a number of years. We found we had been missing one of KC's most wonderful dining experiences. The meal was outstanding and delicious with excellent steaks cooked strictly to order. J. Gilbert's has a large wine list which features varieties of all types at many price levels. Service was very, very good and great service is hard to find these days. The physical beauty, warmth and vibe are welcoming and charming. The place reminded me of how steakhouses used to be and how they should be now for today's guests.

    Our JGilbert’s dining experience was outstanding. We were seated in the bar area so mom didn’t have to do steps, which was helpful. Our service was amazing (above and beyond and attentive, even with crowds and a party!) and the food was both generous servings and flavorful(bisque and ribs and coconut cake). The only complaint would be that it was a bit chilly, but it’s December, so it didn’t truly overly impact a wonderful afternoon meal.
