Knickerbocker is known for its great Jazz and its 28 oz. T- Bone Steaks and is a favorite among many celebrities including F. Murray Abraham, Chris Noth and Alec Baldwin. Racheal Ray listed us in her "NYC Favorites" and has praised our Shrimp Cocktail, Creamed Spinach, and of course our T- Bone Steaks.
The word "Knickerbocker" itself, says "New York". Upon entering, you’ll know you're in the Village. Its wood paneled walls sport rare turn of the century posters and original caricatures by Al Hirschfeld. Large leather booths line the walls and brass rails accent the 100 year old marble bar, where Charles Lindbergh signed his Trans Atlantic contract.
We have survived the times by using the freshest ingredients from local markets, and offering good solid value and quality.

Parking details
Parking on the street is usually easy to find. The meters finish at 7:00pm, and the other street parking is available after 6:00pm. There are parking lots on the approach to the restaurant on 9th street or 8th street.
Public transit
The 6 train at Astor place, or the R & N to 8th street are just a block away. Other stations like Union Square & West 4th street are just a short walk away and have most train lines.

Knickerbocker has had "Live Jazz" since the days when the village had "Live Jazz". Harry Connick Jr. got his start here, back in the late 80"s. Names like Junior Mance, Bucky Pizzarelli and Ben Wolf now show up on our schedule.We have live jazz on Friday & Saturday nights, starting at 9:45pm till 2:00am. There is a small $3.50 cover charge at the tables after 10:15 pm, or just stop in at the bar for a drink, with no cover.

We do an Informal Seder Dinner, with a Rabbi, Haggadah, Song sheet The event starts at 5:00 PM and will last till about 8:00, doors open at 4:45 PM (complete table order must be in 5:30, starter courses must be served by 6:00 THIS IS THE ONLY MENU BEING SERVED Seder Plate Matzo and Chopped Chicken Liver First Course: Gefilte Fish Second Course: Matzo Ball Soup 6:00 there will be about a 45 min. ceremony Main Course choice: Braised Brisket of Beef, roasted potatoes and onions Atlantic Salmon, cous cous, dill beurre blanc Roasted Chicken, roasted cipolini onions & baby carrots, sherry jus Dessert Flourless Chocolate Cake, with raspberry sauce or Apple Walnut Strudel, creme anglaise $95.00 pp (Children under 10 yrs, 1/2 price )

Wonderful. We always go to Knickerbocker when in NY. Food is always excellent, service is professional and friendly and the drinks are good too. What more could you ask?

Knick is always a nice meal. We shared the fish and chip entree as an app which was wonderful. Food drinks were on the mark. We will return soon.

Food was delicious, well-prepared, and portions were large. Waiter was charming. Not at all rushed; a lovely evening.

Other than a few issues like the rude host, bad tight table they sat our larger group at while they gave larger booths to parties of 2, the slow service and being out of a special early in the evening, the night was still enjoyable. The t-bone steak and salmon and sides were delicious. The chopped salad was neither chopped nor worth it. The skillet chocolate chip cookie was excellent. The waitress was lovely and the piano player lifted the ambiance of the night!

Good day, and thank you for taking the time to write a review, though I had wished it was better. I did speak to my Chef about the Chopped Salad, (not sure how/why it wasn't chopped), regardless, you weren't happy. Sorry the seating was tight, I saw and agree, it was a busy night. Guests request a booth when making reservation. We try to accommodate them, your reservation was at 7:00, most booths are sat by 6:00, thus some booths had smaller groups on them. I did also speak to my manager, I know that if right from the get go the table isn't right, we are already off on the wrong foot. He should have poured on the charm, and made sure everything was perfect. I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I did put a note on your file about the incident, and hope we can regain your confidence in us. Ron D
