A Salt Lake City icon, Kyoto has delighted literally generations of diners. This cozy restaurant gives the feel of a bit of Kyoto Japan in the Rocky Mountains. Kyoto specializes in authentic Japanese cuisine. House favorites include the Ebi Tempura and Steak Teriyaki. Kyoto is also known for its Sushi Bar. Patrons may either dine at the Sushi Bar or order sushi from a Japanese style booth.

Kyoto Japanese Restaurant was opened by Sam & Yoshiko Tada in 1984. Sam (a native of Kyoto Japan) brought his culinary skills & Yoshiko managed the accounting and service. Both Sam & Yoshiko still participate in the day to day operations of Kyoto.

    You can never go wrong. Kyoto is best restaurant in Utah. Make your reservations early for this restaurant.

    Our food was amazing as always! Our server Sean was outstanding! He was fast knowledgeable and took great care of us. The steak and salmon melted in your mouth. The teriyaki chicken and spare ribs were cooked perfectly. A must-have is the gyozas and tatsuta age chicken appetizer. They are a classic and some of the best things to eat there. We have been coming to Kyoto since the early 90s, and it was amazing then, and still amazing now...

    Food and service were great. The diakon salad was excellent and the ginger rice pudding was to die for! Sushi was yummy and tasted fresh, not fishy.

    A step above and beyond standard Japanese food. Sushi-loving 10 year old kept so busy trying all the other tasty bits he didn't finish his roll. Don't know what they do differently with their tempura batter, but it's just RiGht

    A salt lake staple. Everything is top tier. Best sashimi and nigiri in the valley, plus their veggie tempura is also amazing.

    Always great food and good service. I would recommend this place and will be back again. One change instead of deep fried vegetables side i will ask for steamed carrots.

    Thank you Kyoto for helping a friend and I celebrate his birthday. The food was delicious as always. Has to over order so we would have lunch for tomorrow. Thank you for being a pillar for the Japanese community of Salt Lake!
