Located just a few minutes from downtown in architecturally rich Monte Vista neighborhood, La Fonda on Main is the oldest Mexican food restaurant in San Antonio. La Fonda serves both the best of Tex-Mex cuisine as well as authentic dishes of interior Mexico in a fun and casual setting with beautiful patio dining. We're open 7 days a week offering our full menu as well as family meals and catering options on curbside. Happy Hour is Monday-Thursday from 3pm-6pm. We offer a full bar with a wide variety of liquor, beer and wine. Saturday's and Sunday's we serve brunch from 10:00am-3:00pm. Our fabulous margaritas are made with hand-squeezed limes and your choice of a large selection of tequilas and mezcals. Our famous patio is heated from the ground up for chilly nights under the stars and lights in the trees.

    La Fonda had been highly recommended and we finally decided to try it and had such a great experience. Our server was so friendly and the food was delicious. We definitely will go back.

    From making a reservation to paying, the experience and quality and service was impeccable. Highly recommend!! and that was my first time. The only issue I had was parking, but I completely understood that it was at the height of the lunch hour.

    Very good service. Quite possibly the best meal I've ever had. The skirt steak and church's are to die for. Very old and historic building, but is very clean and a great atmosphere. A must have if passing through San Antonio

    As usual we had a fantastic Tex-mex meal. The jalapeño cheese tamales were especially good. The smoked salsa was tasty with the fresh, crunchy chips. The Tex-mex cheese enchilada was very good! We also enjoyed the freshly made in house corn tortillas. Highly recommend La Fonda on Main Street I've been coming to this restaurant since the 70's!

    There are many reasons why La Fonda has been a popular restaurant for decades. Everything is of high quality- food, service, and atmosphere- making for a great dining experience. My wife and I had the fajita trio and loved it. The margaritas were great too. Our server Rufus was exceptionally helpful and attentive. We will definitely dine there again anytime we visit San Antonio.

    The service and the ambiance was great. We have been here multiple times and every time we go I have to send my food back to have it heated up. It always comes out cold to lukewarm. Mexican food should be hot. I should not have to tell them to make sure it's hot. The manager this time took care of it.
