Opened in 2001 La Garrigue is a 2 AA Rosettes French restaurant located just a stones throw away from Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile and minutes away from Waverley train station with stunning views of Calton Hill.
The restaurant is themed around the culinary specialities of the southern regions of France offering hearty dishes such as Roquefort Cheese Soufflé, Fish Soup, Traditional Cassoulet and using the best of local produces as well as French ones. The wine list is extensive and is suitably representative of Languedoc, the largest of France's wine producing regions and has been awarded AA Notable Wine List for years.
Be ready to be transported to France as you come in, friendly and relaxed atmosphere mixed with chic yet casual surroundings.

    From the first sip of the house cocktail to the last bite of crème brûlée, our experience at La Garrigue was fantastic. I’d highly recommend the Roquefort soufflé and the caq au vin. The owner was friendly and helpful in recommending wines to complement our dishes. We look forward to coming back again soon!

    Our favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. Superb French cuisine, excellent wine list and a comfortable homely feel. Would recommend La Garrigue for a small gathering, a family get-together or to experience great French cooking.

    What a fantastic evening. Incredible food, attentive welcoming service, and the recommended wine paired perfectly with our meal. We can’t wait to come back, and would highly recommend a visit to every discerning diner!

    Given the reviews we expected a lot. The atmosphere and staff was good, however the food was disappointing. The starter was supposed to be chicken with truffle farce. However, there was no truffle flavour and the chicken was dry. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which tasted more like a Chardonnay and was also much too yellow in colour (we should have said something, our fault!). The main course (Languedocian Cassoulet) was ordinary and very "petit". The menu itself was also not very big either, so it was a bit of a challenge to find something on it that really pleased. My girlfriend took the porc, the meet was okay but the rest was without a lot of imagination/flavours and not really French (we are a lot in France....). We skipped desert to save us from more disappointments. Afterwards paying 85 euros per person was not the right price/quality balance for us, we expected more. So for us this was the first and last time.

    An oasis of France in a city centre. French cooking, French amity with style but no snobbery. We have been going for over 20 years and love seeing new faces, fleeing jaded junk, finally to find the real French touch. I've been passed and wanted only a sandwich and immediately was given a delightful plate of real food. And we've taken parties of 8, in a private room - just sizzling. Parfait!
