Itihaas restaurant in Birmingham is one stunning eaterie. This beautiful restaurant —the name means ‘history’ -- is the £2 million brainchild of businessman Raj Rana and it’s been raking in awards since it opened its doors. The décor is contemporary meets traditional with two dining rooms honouring colonial and maharaja eras – there are slate finished walls, original paintings, carved stone elephants, Jali marble window frames like those found in Mogul palaces and elegant black sari-clad hostesses.     Booked for my husbands birthday when we were visiting Birmingham. Food was delicious particularly the steak and dessert. Staff were excellent, very attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

    Me and my partner went for valentines evening. As soon as we arrived we were struck by how great the service was. A warm welcome and a quick and friendly service. We had drinks and our food orders were taken within 10 minutes of being seated. Even though it was extremely busy we didn’t have to wait or ask for anything but also didn’t feel rushed. The food was delicious paired with a beautiful bottle of gavi di gavi. I can’t recommend Cucina Rustica enough! Thanks guys for a fabulous evening you were superstars!

    Service and food (portions are generous) were excellent. The decor and mood of the restaurant was also very nice. The sweet anniversary treat was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend a visit if you like south asian cuisine.

    We decided to have the 5 course tasting menu as we are older and felt daunted by the idea of 10 courses. This was an excellent decision. With all the delicious snacks and nibbles in the bar before and after the main meal, 5 courses were ample for us. We’ve never had such delicious food. Every mouthful was a delight, in taste and texture. It was such a great experience, which we will never forget. The service was also excellent, staff being friendly and attentive throughout, arriving promptly and explaining every dish. We also had the wine pairing and can highly recommend that - fabulous wines and again excellent descriptions of each. Everything was perfect.
