The Rabbits is a family friendly gastro pub & restaurant in the heart of the essex countryside.     Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch to celebrate cousin Clares 70th birthday. My start of portobello mushrooms was fabulous. We had to have a dessert and they didn't disappoint. The new decor is classy and the Christmas's decor beautiful. Cosy atmosphere. Would love to know the brand of non alcoholic white sauvignon wine. It was so refreshing. Wish all a successful Christmas season. Must bring daughter next year.

    Food overall was good. The Welsh rarebit for starters was good as was the roast for mains, although it could have more gravy, which wasn’t a problem when we asked for more. Service and attention to detail could be better. They forgot two of our starters which they apologised and deducted our starters from the bill. Water carafe and wine was neglected, which should be automatically topped up. Plus I asked for the heating to be turned on otherwise we would’ve kept our coats on. If they can refine those small details, then it would deserve 5 stars.
