Berner and Brown is the oldest tapas bar in the city and is located in the new cathedral district of Magdeburg. Magdeburg Cathedral, the Museum of Cultural History, Hegelstraße and the Elbe River are not far from us. Typical? Tapas! Courage! "...typical Spanish?", "...real Spanish?, "...standard?" We interpret and combine Northern Spanish Mediterranean cuisine in our own way, turning it into refreshing, delicious, modern and sometimes surprising creations. With over 20 vegan items, plant-based eaters are also well taken care of at our restaurant. Berner and Brown is a small, cozy and modern eatery with creative tapas and an extensive menu of Spanish wines and sherries.

Das heutige Restaurant Remise befindet sich in den Gebäuden Burghof 2 und Remise Burghof 1. Ein genaues Erbauungsdatum der Remise ist nicht bekannt. Auf einem Plan um 1870/1880 besteht noch das Vorgängergebäude, welches als Stall genutzt wurde. Aus dem Jahr 1903 liegen Pläne zum Bau des Pförtnergebäudes und einer Wagenremise mit Pferdeställen und Waschküche vor. Die als Ställe genutzten Räume wurden 1956 zum Kindergarten umgebaut. Der westliche der beiden Ställe wurde damals schon als evangelischer Gemeinderaum genutzt. Waschküche und Wagenremise blieben aber noch weiterhin bestehen. Der Burghof 2 war als Domschule erbaut worden. Hier befindet sich heute der kleine Gastraum sowie eine Ferienwohnung im 1. OG. 2015 erfolgte die behutsame Sanierung der beiden Gebäude für eine neue Nutzung.

Gutes Ambiente in legerer und lebhafter Atmosphäre. Perfekt mit Kindern. Essen (Pizza) sehr schmackhaft. Nachbestellung (Öl, Balsamico, Pfeffer) kam leider zu spät, da erst andere Bestellungen ausgeliefert wurden. Ansonsten ein schöner Besuch.

Wir hatten einen tollen Abend. Das Personal hat uns das Gefühl vermittelt, dass wir uns wie in einer Familie fühlen sollten. Zuvorkommend, Freundlich, Lustig und nicht Aufdringlich. Wir werden immer gern diese Gaststätte besuchen und sie auch weiter empfehlen.

We checked in and they couldn’t find our reservation, so we had to sit outside. When eating dinner, my husband and I don’t like eating in the heat. The food was very good and the steak was cooked perfectly. Our server was very attentive too. Open Table only lets you make a reservation for 1, the hostess didn’t seem to care that the site wasn’t working properly. I would return if I can get a reservation for inside dining
