This is Greece. Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

We are currently open seven days a week. Saturday & Sunday we are open with an All Day Menu. Reservations can be made on our website, or through OpenTable. Due to the intimate nature of our dining room, if you would like to make a reservation for more than 4 guests, please give us a call at the restaurant. We hold reservations for a 15 minute grace period. Please call us if you are running late, we will do our best to hold your table but cannot guarantee it. Due to the size of our dining room, we do appreciate 1.5 hour dining experiences for parties of 1-2 guests, 2 hours for parties of 3-4, and 2.5 hours for parties of 5 or more guests that book reservations. Originally opened in 2005, Garrett Harker’s flagship restaurant has reopened its doors just up Beacon St. only three blocks from its original location. Eastern Standard continues to offer seasonally focused New England interpretations of classic brasserie fare, including raw bar and charcuterie, nostalgic favorites like steak tartare, baked rigatoni, steak frites, and butterscotch bread pudding, and some new soon-to-be-instant-classic dishes.     Only negative for today was the terrible valet service. After waiting 15 minutes we decided to find a garage and park ourselves. Understandably it was a rainy day but cars were lined up down the street waiting to be parked or at least see a valet. Definitely not a good day for the valet attendants. Once inside our experience was amazing as always.

    This was a lovely experience. I sat at the bar and enjoyed charcuterie, cheese, crispy chicken thighs, and of course delicious wine. Highly recommend!

    The food was delicious and I loved the ambience. The cocktails were a bit pricey at $16-$20 but that seems to be the standard here in Boston. If you want to have a romantic and quiet evening I do recommend Terra. Our waiter also gave us a sweet cream gelato to celebrate my fiancé and I’s engagement! It was a great time!

    Bar Vlaha was absolutely delicious! While being high-end cuisine, it had a very homestyle feel to it. The food was hearty and tasty, not intimidating. Would highly recommend!
