Deme, short for Demeter, (the Greek Goddess of the Harvest) is a new Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean Sea-inspired poolside eatery at Hotel Figueroa, with nods to the sea-faring communities along the Eastern Mediterranean Coast, Turkey, and Israel, led by Executive Chef Blake Shailes. Think: housemade Mediterranean dips served with freshly made pita bread using a combination of ancient Kamut flour and Tehachapi Farms Red Fife Flour, Crispy Lobster Kataifi, Turkish Manti (Turkish Lamb Dumplings), Lahmacun (Turkish Pizza // Spiced Wagyu Flatbread), a Greek-inspired Glazed Octopus & Grilled Grape Skewers, and large-format platters designed for shareable feasts including Slow Cooked Lamb Neck Shawarma, Half Heritage Chicken Mansaf and desserts including housemade Baklava, and housemade Soft Serve paired with a refreshing and playful cocktail program developed by Bar Director, Milosz Cieslak.     This is one of my favorite restaurants when I am in the downtown LA area. The food has never disappointed me. It’s that comfort type food you get from grandma. Service has always been good and good music playing in the background.

    We made a reservation for 7pm and there was a hockey game at the arena next door so it was super crowded and super loud inside. We were seated right away and our server was very good. After the game started at 7:30 the crowd thinned out and we were able to have a normal volume conversation instead of yelling at each other from 2 feet away. The food was prepared and served quickly and everything was delicious. The chocolate cake dessert recommended by our server was sooo good.

    Mastro’s Ocean Club in Downtown LA does it again. The Service, Food, and ambiance were incredible. Located directly across the street from the Crypto Arena, Mastro’s makes for a good choice before a Laker Game. Our waiter, Chris, was very attentive and the live music was outstanding. We enjoyed our Martini’s, the spicy Mambo salad, Filet, mushrooms, and baked potato with caviar. If you’re looking forward to a high end meal before visiting Crypto, I highly recommend Mastro’s .
