Come and enjoy good food and great service in a fabulous environment.Signature dishes include rack of lamb with aloo methi, Chilean sea bass with mango chutney, chicken tikka masala and a vegetarian thali. When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food.

This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day.     My 2 girlfriends & I had an amazing dinner experience. It was our first time dining at Makiin. The minute we walked in the door, the atmosphere felt warm & inviting— beautifully decorated. To start, we all ordered some mango cocktails, as recommended by our friendly & courteous waitress (Nan), which was very delicious. We then ordered 3 appetizers (papaya salad, fried dumplings & some other fried flat bread (?), 3 main dishes (shrimp drunken noodles, pumpkin & chicken curry, and mussels) to share, along with a sweet rice & mango dessert. The pumpkin & chicken curry and shrimp drunken noodles were the 2 star dishes for us. We plan to return.

    When my husband and I travel, we seek out an Eddie V’s due to the consistency in food, atmosphere, and service. This location was everything we expected and more! Our waiter, Torron, was very helpful and friendly. The manager made us feel important by coming to our table to visit and make sure we were taken care of.

    I was so happy that I stumbled upon an article that listed them as one of the top places to have tea in Houston. Whenever I go out of town I try to find a place where I can have tea service and this did not disappoint. It is probably in my top two favorite places I’ve ever gone for tea. I will definitely come back for tea during a future visit and also plan to come there for dinner as well as the food smelled wonderful. It is beautifully decorated. The staff were very accommodating and offered to put our luggage in their office as we were flying out directly after tea Service. I can’t say enough about the service, the ambience and the food and drinks.
