Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work. Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region. In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

Wonderful service, our waitress was attentive and helpful. The food was exceptional. Korean prepared snapper was delicious as was the Thai curry chicken. The latter portion was huge. We always love and share the crispy tofu as appetizer.

Casbah has retained its high standards over the years. We last ate here 10 years ago and before that 7 years prior to then. While it’s lost its middle eastern focus and is now more nouveau cuisine, it still is professional grade wait staff, excellently prepared foods and a slightly eclectic vibe. We will come back again soon!
