Under the culinary direction of Chef Somoza, Flora’s menu captures the spirit of Mediterranean seaside towns from Saint Tropez to Capri to Marbella, spotlighting the bountiful seafood and vibrant produce that are hallmarks of coastal cuisine. With a passion for fresh ingredients rooted in his childhood in the Spanish countryside, picking wild blackberries and foraging mushrooms and wild asparagus, Chef Somoza is drawn to local, farm-to-table cooking.The Flora menu is made up of regional ingredients such as sweet corn, seasonal vegetables and fruits, local seafood and small farm sourced meats, and is anchored by a crudo bar and fish main courses including Dover Sole, Bank Scallops, pan seared halibut. Our two story building offer 2 bar areas, the first floor tavern and the second floor Burgee Bar. Located right on Thames Street, there is no better place in town to watch the hustle and bustle of downtown Newport. Our tavern area has high top tables for a casual, bar atmosphere, where you can gather with friends to enjoy a great meal, or a few beverages. Three dining rooms and three outside decks allow for plenty of dining space as well as the availability for private parties.Whether you are looking for casual snacks and cocktails with friends or a formal dining experience, Midtown Oyster Bar has everything you could possibly be looking for.**In order to provide the best service possible we are limiting table seating to parties of 8 or less. A credit card is required for reservations of 6 or more people. There will be a $50 charge for a "No Show/No Call" reservation.

    The hostess who greeted us was very friendly. Our server was very courteous and professional. Our meal was delicious, and the cost was not too high. Due to the holiday, the restaurant was not crowded at all. The ambiance was excellent—a very romantic spot for a date night. I would definitely eat here again if we are in town.

    We made the reservation earlier in the day for a casual dinner following the Breakers Christmas light event. We arrived 30 minutes early but the hostess got us seated quickly ( thank you!). Fish & Chips, Steak Frites, Lobstah Carbonara & Onion Jam Burger were awesome. If you’re a F&C fan, then don’t look at the menu, just order it! The breading on the fish complimented it nicely (the fish was the star). The coleslaw was outstanding, too. Overall. Very nice dinner at Jo’s. Will definitely return.

    Such a great find as a way to celebrate a wonderful Christmas visit with my mom and in-laws! Our reservation was at 4:30pm which, in December, gave us an amazing view of the sunset over the water. Everything was tasty- great cocktails, the best oysters I've ever had, and entrees we all appreciated. One of the stars was my mom's dessert- sticky toffee pudding. Posh, wonderful, and a great way to impress our Texas-based family members.
