Hy's Calgary is a modern rendition of the classic steakhouse tradition. The Japanese film Tampopo was marketed as the world’s first “ramen western”. It’s the story of two truck drivers, Goro & Gun, who use their culinary expertise to change the fate of a struggling noodle shop. Those two characters' passion for noodle-making lives on at Calgary’s 150-seat noodle bar — led by executive chefs Ryusuke Araki & Tomo Mitsuno.     The service from the hostess stand to the server were outstanding as always. The food is always tasty and consistent at Barbarella no matter what you order. I appreciate suggestions or alternatives from the wait staff. They always know how to make the food next level.

    This was a surprise. It is a well established place, but nailing that tomahawk to perfection was a hugely welcoming surprise. Best tomahawk ever, and not only in Calgary. I guess four day marinading and other magic must take place, still we treasured every bite. Broccolini and mushrooms were great as the sides; stake tartar was perfectly balanced; the salmon crudo had a beautifully balanced marinade but was a touch off. The tying part for it was Tasha, she was fantastic, full of energy, leaving us with the image of our new best place to go to! Thank you all.
