Located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, TAKOI is known for modern Thai cooking accented with Michigan seasonality, a DIY mentality, and a penchant for local food production. As a core pillar of our mission, TAKOI operates HiO Farm which is located just a mile north of the restaurant. During the height of farm season, the restaurant highlights dishes prepared with HiO produce utilizing the techniques and flavors inspired by Thailand and beyond. TAKOI, originally KATOI, began as a food truck in 2014, evolved into an Ann Arbor pop-up, and landed as a proper restaurant at 2520 Michigan Avenue in March of 2016. After being open for 11 months, having a slew of fun, and garnering a handful of awards — including a James Beard 'Best New Restaurant' nomination— KATOI was brought back down to earth when it was subjected to arson in February 2017. The day after the fire, the rebuild began, and we opened as TAKOI exactly six months later in August 2017.

Selden Standard’s fare features flavors born in local farms, captured at the peak of the season, prepared in their wood-fired oven, and served small plates-style in shareable portions. Complementing the menu are wines from small producers, distinctive brews, and cocktails to suit the seasons. Selden is rustic and casual, but with an ever-present eye for quality, creativity, and fun. Chef Andy Hollyday is a 2023 James Beard Foundation finalist and four-time semi-finalist. Chef/Owner Norberto Garita was able to obtain his culinary experience working in Manhattan N.Y. and in the later moved to Michigan where he worked at the famously (now Closed) Ill Posto Ristorante Italiano.

    Takoi is a true Asian-Infused gem in hidden in Corktown. My husband and I shared the chef’s tasting menu, and each dish was a delightful journey of flavors. The use of unique spices and ingredients had us guessing with every bite! What truly stood out was the exceptional service. Our server, along with the rest of the staff, was genuinely attentive and incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients and flavors used in every dish. Their passion for the food and their commitment to enhancing the dining experience was evident in every interaction. The combination of outstanding cuisine and impeccable service made for a night to remember. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to Takoi! Renee and John Decator

    I had heard mixed reviews about this place so I was kind of skeptical. I’m absolutely glad I went. My filet minon was cooked to perfection, the Mac and cheese was great and I had the sweetest and best sparking red wine. 10/10 for me and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

    Had a fantastic dining experience! From the moment we arrived, the host ensured we had a perfect table with a beautiful view of the fountain. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and everything exceeded expectations.
