Poppie’s is renowned for authenticity – and it’s little wonder, with born and bredEast-end proprietor, Pat ‘Pop’ Newland, at the helm. Pop’s career in the fish and chip business started in 1952 when, aged 11, he got a job on Roman Road cutting up copies of The Daily Mirror to wrap fish and chips in. With decades of experience behind him, ‘Pop’ founded Poppie’s. The shops are filled with retro memorabilia from Pop’s childhood, The uniforms channel a 1950s vibe, and the music is tailored to each shop. Dining in one of Pops restaurants is an experience with retro vibes and iconic looks from the decades. For instance, Seventies Formica and Anaglypta wallpaper will be just one of many pieces of kitsch decor on show.

Andy’s Taverna restaurant in a corner of London that could be reasonably nicknamed Little Greek Cyprus is a charming, casual dining spot with all the cheer of the Greek islands. The white-fronted restaurant has classic blue awnings, while a subtler blue and white theme continues indoors to remind you of whitewashed Greek houses and the blue Aegean. This long-established restaurant is famous for its warm staff, pocket-friendly prices and generous portions. Sea bass and sea bream are flown in daily from Greece.     The food is always amazing here. We went for the Christmas Special. Had such a great time with the Christmas Crackers and little party favours. Absolutely recommend!

    Warmly and enthusiastically greeted on arrival I was taken to my table straight away. The service from Joey was really attentive and impressive. Water arrived immediately and a lovely apple cinamon drink shortly after. My chosen veggie pizza was truly delicious; plenty of mouth-wayering, fresh ingredients. A rich, moist tirumisu, followed. Tuesday, 8.30 was comfortable and well attended. The decor, warm and homely. I will be back and yes, I recommend this little haven.

    We went to this place because it looked nice and lively from the outside. Upon entering it maintained that ambiance which is a pleasant experience. What lured me was the menu and I was looking for good bar food/bbq. This was authentically really reminding me of American Food, I ordered the sirloin steak. The service was really prompt, friendly and welcoming. Would come back again if I am in the Camden area.

    We celebrated my son's 18th here after a fantastic day in Camden he loves Fish and chips so we thought it would be a good option and we weren't wrong! The food was fresh and delicious and the service outstanding. They made a real fuss of him and we all had a great time! I would highly recommend Poppies!
