Matsu follows a new light in modern Japanese cooking while paying homage to centuries-old tradition. The menu is our study of pristine, simple ingredients, the overall experience a balance, providing a sense of omotenashi, or Japanese hospitality.We currently offer a 10 course tasting menu that constantly is changing with the seasons and availability, featuring a wide variety of seafood and vegetables, a few meat courses, and desserts. We also have a la carte and vegan options available as well, and walk in guests are welcome to join us either at our bar, or if tables are available for the evening. This cozy, eclectic restaurant quickly became a destination for those who appreciated Chef Davin’s creative approach to celebrating local and responsibly sourced fish and produce. In addition to a set sushi menu, Wrench offers an omakase as well as a list of specials that change daily. The team is committed to reducing waste and enhancing flavor by elevating all cuts of fish and veggies, as well as featuring a diverse range of species. Many menu items are simple, fresh and creative, with a lesser-known fish species complimented by ingredients from the backyard garden. Byproduct utilization drives the menu as well, and recent explorations with aging techniques have led to a dry aged fish program.     Absolutely love this place!! If you love meat, this is the place to be. Yes, the dinner price might seem a bit high but honestly so worth it. The quality of meat is insane and the variety is as well. My husband and I go here every year for his birthday dinner and it’s such a wonderful tradition. The service is really great and everyone working there is super friendly. 10/10 recommend!!

    What a magical experience! The wine pairing with the tasting menu was phenomenal. The waitstaff executed perfectly - seamless service with perfect ambiance. I can't wait to go back. Don't miss the Meyer Lemon butter...a life changing experience ;).

    We were visiting Oceanside and I had read a blog that said to make sure we made a reservation here. Another couple joined us and we were all blown away with the quality of the food (fresh seafood) and the flavors were outstanding. The custom menu was beautifully put together. We enjoyed about 5 appetizers between us, 3 rolls of sushi, and 2 desserts. We couldn't stop. Make sure to make a reservation because there was a line outside of about 30 people who waited about an hour. Highly recommend!

    Most amazing birthday meal tonight. The server was so attentive and made sure we all knew how the menu worked and how to have the best experience. The broccoli was the number 1 at our table followed by the chicken dish and the market fish. The s’mores dessert was so fun and delicious as well! Everything 10/10, worth the wait for a reservation.

    Took my staff there, per their request, for our EOY holiday party /outing. Betty was awesome!! We ate, drank and played games!! Had a great time and didn't break the bank. Thanks again!
