I truly appreciate the time I spend at this restaurant as I’m a resident of Avenues West neighborhood and the adjacent Near West Side. The live music with the food is always a plus for me when I go. My child loved her mashed potatoes and my child’s mom loved her time there. We appreciate the person who also paid for our tab the last time we went without our knowledge. That was nice of them. I even got to tip the waiter more.

My wife and I are big fans of Birch, which is why we dined here on Valentine’s Day. We sat at the chef’s counter and really enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. It’s easy to see why Chef Knall is a 2025 James Beard nominee for best Chef Midwest. The GM at Birch is so personable and acknowledges us on every visit. It’s no wonder his staff is so helpful and courteous. Book your reservation with confidence.

Staff, Nick primarily, were great. They were helpful, friendly, and even on Valentines weren’t pushing to turn the table. It made for a very relaxing and enjoyable evening.

I was really impressed that despite it being a very cold day, the place was warm and cozy. I have problems hearing, but not here. Despite being pretty full when we went, there was no problem hearing my party. The service was excellent and very attentive.

My husband had I went for dinner for an early valentines day. We shared the broiled oysters. They were a little small for the price but were very good. We had the kale salad with beets. They split the salad up into two bowls. It was tasty. We shared the 14oz NY strip and honey carrots. We ordered the steak medium rare. The one end was well done but my husband likes it that way. They precut the steak into slices and served it on a wood platter. It was very nice. For dessert we each had a glass of port. The service was very professional.
