Located in downtown Columbia, SC, inside the historic 1902 Union Station, California Dreaming welcomes guests with its vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows offer a picturesque view of the rail tracks, stretching from the inactive platform to the main terminal. Paired with our hearty, made-from-scratch menu, it's no wonder California Dreaming has been a beloved local institution since 1984. Open for lunch and dinner daily, including online ordering with curbside pickup.Celebrating 40 years, California Dreaming has been a valued part of the Columbia community. Union Station, its historic home, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.**We provide Advance Priority Seating to reduce wait times and expedite the seating process when your entire party arrives. To ensure the best experience for all guests, we seat groups of up to 8. While larger groups are seated separately, this arrangement is flexible during quieter hours.

    When we got sat we found out we didn’t have the right count to include two kids… when we asked the host staff to see if we could move to another table, they were more than gracious and understanding and coordinated the move. They were patient and set us up at another table. We were able to enjoy our meal and the kids were able to spread out. Many thanks to the host staff. We have been having a family Christmas Eve dinner for many years and this staff has always been attentive and helpful.

    Minimal wait time, private table and outstanding customer care experience provided by our server. We appreciate his sensitivity to our needs as well as the exceptional observation and anticipation of individual experiences throughout our meal.     We were a table of 12. Great menu selection and all meals came out hot together. Service was the best. Osso bucco and pork chop entrees are highly recommended. Will be back.

    Definitely a unique brunch in a clear igloo. The menu was eclectic and everything tasted great. When the sun was shining, we had to open the vents since it was getting too warm. We ordered 2 items off the puppy menu and he enjoyed both. The mimosa flight was great with something for everyone’s taste.
