The focus for Executive Chef Aaron Weible is to maintain a scratch kitchen. Preparing everything daily from sauces to breads. Utilizing local area farmers for fresh vegetables and using our on-site herb garden. We take great pride in providing each of our guests a WOWing experience.

Our Farm-to-Table Restaurant offers fresh food focused on local sourcing and home-made recipees. Our beef is raised in Holgate, OH and processed locally. The cheese on our boards is made from local, whole milk in Hicksville, OH. We use 100% California olive oil in our oil based dressings - it is not cut with canola/soy/vegetable oils. Our flatbreads come in at less than 30 carbs each. We are known for our cocktails, particularly our Old Fashioneds and our Seasonal Speicialty Drinks. Our building was constructed in 1871, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019 and completely renovated to expose it's historic lines and features in 2021. We are within Defiance's DORA District and directly across from Triangle Park in Defiance's historic downtown. Step back in time, window shop the downtown and then come and dine. We offer carryout through a button on our website www.thedarkhorsesocialclub.net

    The floor manager, Emily was very rude and condescending when it came to one of our steaks being overcooked. It was ordered, medium rare. It came out, probably well done and instead of coming over and trying to rectify the situation. She was very adamant that the steak was medium rare and we were wrong. Luckily Brooke, our server and Greg the bar manager came over and were amazing and very apologetic. Benchmark is one of my favorite places and when I make reservations again if Emily is working, I will be canceling set reservations. Thank God for Brooke and the bar manager Greg they went above and beyond.

    Awesome gluten-free options. Impressed with the wine and food quality. Very nice server that constantly checked on us during our meal. Top notch experience! We will be back at a Cooper’s Hawk soon!
