Welcome to your friend neighborhood bar and sandwich shop. Tucked away on Lafayette Park, just a block from the downtown and seaport neighborhoods of Salem, MA, The Babe is the perfect place to rendezvous after work for a cocktail, grab a bite with friends, or get together for a late night celebration. We take pride in our scratch kitchen with a menu inspired by Northeast sandwich culture and cuisine; touching on fan favorites from Philly to NY, and of course, Boston!     Once again our dining experience at the Hawthorne Tavern was outstanding and we loved the ambiance. The servers were nice and good at their jobs. All four of us at my table enjoyed our meals which were served promptly, even on a night when the Tavern was packed. I'd especially like to call-out Lori for taking such good care of us. My family, friends and I will be back.

    My group of 4 had a reservation for a birthday dinner at 7:15. The hostess was very apologetic when they could not seat us right away as a previous table was not leaving. We ended up having to wait for our table for 35 minutes. In the mean time we got a drink at the bar. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff to the sommelier was very apologetic but we didn't mind. Everyone more than made up for our wait with complementary appetizer and a drink. Our birthday celebration was great and all of the food and drink was phenomenal. The sommelier Scott spent extra time with us when we had questions about the wine and was very kind and informative! We will be returning soon!

    Our Bartender was excellent! The food was amazing! We got the steak and eggs and the breakfast wrap! Absolutely amazing!! Can’t wait to go back! But the star was the lemon ricotta donuts served warm with homemade jam!!!

    First time visitor. The food was delightful! Shared a buffalo cauliflower and it was amazing! The portion was good size for 2 or more. The pork belly burger was great! Had to take 1/2 home. My friend had theFerby burger and couldn't finish hers either. Will be back for sure!
