Founded by two sisters, natives of Trinidad who were raised in the heart of New York City, 2 Chix opened its doors for dine-in in 2022. Since then, Tinnil, one of the founders, has taken the reins as the owner and operator, infusing her passion for both her cultural heritage and the city she calls home. Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course.     This was our first time experiencing this lovely French restaurant:-) We had the escargot with marrow that was incredible. They provide bread with this outstanding butter. We enjoyed the muscles as well with this delicious sauce. Last but not least we ordered the Amish chicken on veggies and mashed potatoes. We will return every month to this spectacular French establishment. Lovely service.

    This cozy spot on the lower east side is very trendy with its gem named cocktails and seasonal menus. It is clearly incredibly popular as tables turn over quickly and there is never an empty seat. The food comes quickly and is deeply flavorful. The menu consists of dishes that can be harder to find, even in a cultural hub like NYC. I do wonder if lunch service is a little less bustling as at times I found it difficult to hear my dinner partner. I also wish they would tell you about the QR code for the food menu as it is on a physical drinks menu and that’s a bit confusing. Overall I’m glad I made it to Soothr and look forward to trying their sister restaurant Sappe soon.

    The restaurant was very cute. My friend and I were the only ones there, but Nadia really made us feel welcomed and very very attentive to our needs. The food was great, especially the saltfish and bake. I would go back again for that dish! Overall, we had a great time there.

    The food was surprisingly good and the service was absolutely amazing. I love the way the arepitas are resented so I don’t have to choose one. The monkfish and short rib were also a nice surprise.
