Mark and Mary Shapley began this dining tradition in 1985 and soon became one of the premier restaurants in the state. After taking a break to raise their two girls, they have returned with the same great food and service everyone came to know. Great steaks and seafood along with their famous tamales are still the main attraction along with an impressive bar and wine offerings. A modern oyster bar focusing on Southern cuisine, highlighting fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables to share. Saltine, named as a nod to the plain cracker often served with seafood, pays homage to Jackson's rich history with oysters and seafood. Oysters are sourced from the Gulf of Mexico, east and west coasts and Canada and served raw, smoked, wood-fired and fried.     We had our Friendsmas Dinner and it was nice. Some of the food choices wasn't too good but good food and drinks was bomb.com. We had reservations table was ready when we got there and staff and our server was great. Would definitely go back

    As always, great food, great service, perfect dining experience. Steaks are best in the area and the wine list can cover the needs of any range. Love this place. Oh - and got a couple bottles of their TERRIFIC steak seasoning to go. If you've not discovered this, get some lots of places locally, use it on almost everything.

    I'm not a fan of how the tables are arranged. It feels like a cafeteria and somewhat impersonal. The sitting area in the bar is great. The food was very good except for the house salad. I assume they had a new employee doing salads that night. Steaks, Crab Claws, Tuna Tower were great. However, the stuffed Shrimp was very odd. To much stuffing and there was a loud herb/spice in the dressing mix that left an after taste.

    Amazing! The staff was everything and overly generous to my table. I love the aesthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant. They were fast and efficient with our orders. Also made sure we have a great time going in and out! 10/10! And 7/10 for food it could’ve been more seasoned but it still was good.
