Bluestone is a Chicago-style restaurant in Evanston that offers homestyle cooking in a warm and welcoming environment. Owner John, whose obsession with golf led to the more than 250 pin flags decorating the restaurant, opened Bluestone after transitioning from commercial film production. His goal was to create a locale that was filled with friendliness and familiar faces, all while serving a variety of menu options with a hometown feel. I invited two colleagues to Aboyer as a thank you for their excellent work. We were greeted at the door where our coats were taken and then ushered to our well placed table. We then met our friendly and capable waiter who explained the menu. The fig Manhattan was the perfect beginning to all of the small plates that we ordered during happy hour. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented and delivered by the capable staff. I/we will be back!

Perfect spot for a quiet Tuesday night birthday meal, trying some heretofore unsampled French cuisine in a comfortable and warm setting. Our server was conversant in all aspects of the menu and attentive to every detail, especially the water glasses and bread. I had a pre-dinner Jilly's Fashioned cocktail that really hit the spot, and the appetizers, beet salad, and entrees (bouillabaisse in my case) were winners.
