Umi Sake House is a unique Japanese cuisine restaurant in the Belltown area of Seattle featuring the highest quality seafood available in the Northwest, a large izakaya-style tapas menu, and boasting a sake list of over 60 imported Japanese bottles. The interior is multi-faceted, with a black slate tiled traditional dining room, a gorgeous 14 person capacity wooden sushi bar, a semi private "tatami" room which holds 12 people, a larger 25 person private dining room, an enclosed "back patio" casual dining room complete with tropical garden, a black concrete liquor bar with custom sake cocktails and fusion traditional cocktails. Loved it. Everything was perfect for our last meal with our son before he left for California. The table next to us was a little loud, but that couldn't be helped. The service was great and the food was exceptional. We will definitely be back.

The bar and food service can be quite slow. From the time we ordered our drinks it took 20 minutes to get them to us. From the time we ordered our food (and the first course was a salad) it took 30 min. to get the salad. This is the second time I've been there and the service and delivery of items is slow paced - even when the restaurant doesn't seem that busy.

Superb, as usual. The carrot sformato was an unusual find and quite delicious. The addition of olives to the blood orange and fennel salad hit just the right acid note, Mama’s meatballs were pure beef with a strong dash of anise seed, and the accompanying marinara had been simmering for ages to pick up that deep complexity of flavors and great balance between sweet and slightly acid.
