After spending a lot of time in the area, we had notice that our love of South American food was not only underrepresented but nearly nonexistent. There are some wonderful restaurants in the area, but none that offer authentic food from the southern continent. We made it our mission to create a menu that not only introduces this cuisine to the locals but give the South American population in the area a taste of home. We made sure to use authentic and fresh ingredients, sometimes with a little artistic license, and create dishes not from one country but many. Situated in Lakeview's iconic Southport Corridor, Itoko is a neighborhood Japanese and robata restaurant from Gene Kato, Executive Chef of Momotaro. “Itoko” meaning “cousin” in Japanese, refers to the connection with Momotaro, located in the Fulton Market District.     Went for Santa Baby experience and it was AMAZING. I originally made reservations for the wrong date and it filled up- I was able to send a message and she changed the date for us (Thank you!!) When we checked in I was greeted with a birthday card signed by everyone (thank you!). All three stories were immersed in Christmas decoration. It wasn’t overly crowded, even for a Friday at 9pm. The drinks were good, service was 10/10. And as tiki bar lovers, we will be back next time we are in Chicago!

    The elegance of Swift and Sons but still a casual classy experience. Fairly priced menu based on overall quality and service, though the “meat-n-potatoes” entree prices compared to quantity seems higher than normal for Chicago steakhouses. For reuniting with friends on a Christmas weekend, overlooking a beautifully lit Wrigley Field for the season, it can’t be beat.

    What a fantastic dinner! I highly recommend. All my fiancée wanted for his birthday was an omakase dinner so I took him here. It was incredible! They even wrote his name on their special board and did a birthday candle for dessert. I’ve barely tried sushi and don’t usually like fish but I decided to be adventurous and it sure was worth it! The food is truly so so good! Go to AJI, it’s worth it!
