Driftwood Kitchen and Stateroom bar is a casual restaurant that serves ocean-to-table fare next to a lovely waterfront view. Helmed by executive Chef Rainer Schwarz, the menu showcases an eclectic selection of seafood dishes that highlight the diversity of the Pacific. Menu highlights include hand-shucked oysters, salmon, octopus, swordfish and lobster, prepared with nothing but the finest and freshest ingredients. In 1912, at the bend of Forest Avenue, 23 year old Joe Jahraus opened the Laguna Lumber Company, he and his father(cigar maker, first postmaster and real estate agent) built the beautiful French Normandy building that is here today. Prior to the lumberyard opening, building supplies needed to be dragged in by mule or floated in on the tides, and therefore, Laguna Beach had less than three hundred permanent residences. After the lumberyard opened, the area began to grow at unprecedented rates, transforming it from a tent town into a thriving city. Laguna Lumber operated for seventy three years, sixty two of them in this location and its' architecture, influenced by Joe's tour abroad in World War I, is one of the most significant influences on the town's aesthetic. Half timbers, mud walls and shingled roofs grace many of the downtown storefronts and homes throughout the city because of this landmark. Today, 384 Forest is home to Lumberyard - a contemporary American restaurant.

Honoring Chef Miki Izumisawa, the female, award-winning sushi artist, originally trained by the one and only Nobu Matsuhisa. Miki was inspired by nature to create unique nigiri, cut rolls and hand rolls that blur the line between art and fusion sushi. Miki's recipes transform elements of the natural world with names such as Lava Flow, Moon and Sun, Feather in the Sky, and Prairie.     This is a great restaurant. From the moment we walked in and were greeted with very kind friendly people to the awesome waiter, the delicious food and the beautiful view. We came when it was already dark and wish we would have come a bit earlier to see it during the day! My husband and I split the halibut and wasn’t sure when we first looked at it. It was in a lot of red sauce but the first bite was so so good and I’m so glad we got that fish! All the other meals looked great too. We came with a large group, needing two tables and they worked very hard to put us right together. I would definitely come again!

    Such a beautiful restaurant and service. Wonderful hostess staff too and we very much appreciate the hostesses rearranging our table arrangements after I inadvertently made a reservation at a high top for our party, which included my mother who uses a walker and would not be able to dine at a high top. Thank you Maestro’s for a lovely evening!

    Absolutely wonderful experience. Incredibly, I booked the table too late in the evening and we missed the sunset. The staff is just lovely and the portions were extremely generous and I was surprised. I’m very particular about cocktails and I would say this was a nine out of 10, Definitely Craft.

    Dined on Christmas Eve. Delicious food, felt a bit rushed, not knowing the kitchen was closing at 3:00. Totally understand, staff to go home and enjoy family. Would have been nice to have known while making our reservation.
