Deme, short for Demeter, (the Greek Goddess of the Harvest) is a new Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean Sea-inspired poolside eatery at Hotel Figueroa, with nods to the sea-faring communities along the Eastern Mediterranean Coast, Turkey, and Israel, led by Executive Chef Blake Shailes. Think: housemade Mediterranean dips served with freshly made pita bread using a combination of ancient Kamut flour and Tehachapi Farms Red Fife Flour, Crispy Lobster Kataifi, Turkish Manti (Turkish Lamb Dumplings), Lahmacun (Turkish Pizza // Spiced Wagyu Flatbread), a Greek-inspired Glazed Octopus & Grilled Grape Skewers, and large-format platters designed for shareable feasts including Slow Cooked Lamb Neck Shawarma, Half Heritage Chicken Mansaf and desserts including housemade Baklava, and housemade Soft Serve paired with a refreshing and playful cocktail program developed by Bar Director, Milosz Cieslak.     We were greeted by the friendly hostess and seated promptly in a comfortable area. Our waitress, Jamelah came right over to take care of us. Our orders were placed and our group of 7 was served in a short time. It was a first visit for some and everyone was satisfied with their choices. Some placed orders to go for family members. Excellent menu. Service is premium. We'll be back soon.

    Full transparency: I’m a southerner and didn’t have high expectations for the food. Wow, was I wrong. The food was spectacular. Service and ambiance checked all the boxes too. Great little gem in DTLA. Will definitely visit again when I’m in town.

    It was half an hour to closing so it was quiet inside. We really appreciated getting a reservation last minute and that they were so accommodating at 9:30pm. We were quick to not be disrespectful being the last ones in there or to keep the staff too late (hate being those people). We had the Caesar salad and the lettuce was cold and crisp. Our bone in ribeye sliced was the perfect medium rare. My favorite side dish that I rarely get to have is the lobster Mac and cheese. The best Mac and cheese around with cavatappi pasta noodles. We also took a carrot cake home because that is also one of my favorite carrot cakes in all of LA. We were celebrating my fiancé coming home from a successful work trip so it was the perfect ending to our date night after picking him up from the airport. We had never been to the LA location and it is just as wonderful as the other Flemings locations.
